Birthdays Plus

About this policy

Birthdays Plus is a birthday organiser and gift-inspiration app from Vasser Studios for Android and iOS. This policy describes the current app’s local records, optional online gift suggestions and external searches. No account is required, and a person’s profile is not an online account.

Information stored on your device

The app stores the details you enter: names, birthdays, optional birth years, relationships, hobbies, likes and dislikes, notes and optional profile photos. It also keeps reminder rules, saved gift ideas, gifts you have given, optional costs, app preferences and cached suggestions. Current and upcoming ages are calculated from an entered birth year.

Birthday records and photos are kept in the app’s private local storage. The app does not automatically upload your birthday book, import your address book or provide account-based cloud synchronisation. SQLite storage and JSON backups are unencrypted; there is no separate database password or encryption option. Protection depends on your device, access controls and settings.

Reminders and permissions

Notification permission is optional. Reminders are scheduled on the device and can display a person’s name and birthday details on your lock screen, depending on your settings. You can change reminders in the app or notification permissions in your phone’s settings. The app prepares a finite queue of future alerts and refreshes it when used; open it occasionally to keep future reminders prepared. Delivery can be affected by operating-system limits, Focus modes and battery settings.

Adding a photo uses the system photo picker. A saved copy is held in the app and is removed when replaced or when that person is deleted. The app does not need contacts or GPS location permission.

Optional AI gift ideas

Online gift suggestions are optional and require an internet connection and your explicit permission before first use. With that permission, the selected age bracket, relationship, interests, dislikes, budget, currency, shopping country and previous gift categories are sent through our Cloudflare-hosted service to OpenAI to generate suggestions. Previous gift categories help avoid repeating gifts; recorded gift titles, actual costs and purchase dates are not included.

Names, full birthdates, photos and stored profile notes are excluded from that request. Additional preferences you type into the gift form are included as written; do not enter information you do not want these services to process. You can withdraw AI permission and clear cached suggestions in AI preferences. Declining permission does not prevent you from keeping birthdays and using local reminders.

We disable OpenAI’s stored-response history and do not enable optional input/output sharing for model improvement. Separate abuse-monitoring retention still applies: OpenAI ordinarily retains those logs for up to 30 days, with exceptions for legal or safety reasons. Disabling stored-response history is not a promise of zero provider retention. See OpenAI’s data controls.

Connection information and usage controls

Cloudflare processes connection and request information, including network addresses, to deliver and protect the service. Gift-generation requests also carry an anonymous installation token and request identifier. Our service uses daily cryptographic hashes of these values and the network address to enforce request limits, prevent replay and manage the service allowance. These are not an advertising ID or an account login.

The service’s own usage ledger keeps daily hashed identifiers, counters and cost reservations for routine cleanup after the UTC day changes. It does not store raw installation tokens, raw network addresses, birthday profiles, prompts or gift responses. Cloudflare and OpenAI may separately retain operational or security information under their policies and may process information outside your country. The app-to-service and service-to-OpenAI connections use HTTPS. This transport protection is separate from unencrypted local storage. The current mobile app has no analytics SDK or advertising network SDK.

Amazon and experience searches

Search Amazon opens the selected country’s Amazon site or app with a generic gift query and, when enabled, our affiliate tracking tag. As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases. Explore options opens an external Google search with a generic experience query and selected country. The app does not use Amazon’s product API, show live product prices or stock, process purchases or receive your Amazon login or payment details.

These external services receive the search and connection information needed for that visit and may use cookies or other tracking under their own policies and your browser or account settings. Their browsing and purchase records are separate from your local birthday book. Gift suggestions and budget ranges are inspiration, not verified product listings or availability.

Backups and exports

Export creates a plain JSON backup containing the selected app records and embedded photos. You choose where to save it using the operating system’s file controls. A destination app or cloud-storage provider handles the exported copy under its own practices. Anyone with access to an unencrypted backup may be able to read its contents. Import reads a file you select and previews how records will be handled before applying changes.

Android automatic app-data backup is disabled in this version. iOS device-backup behaviour follows your device settings and can include app data. Operating-system backups and file providers are separate from this app’s optional gift-generation service.

Retention and deletion

Your local records remain until you delete them. Cached AI suggestions are kept for up to seven days. Deleting a person removes that person’s local records and photo, and the app refreshes the relevant reminder schedule.

To start fresh, open More → Data & privacy → Delete all data and confirm. This clears the app’s local records, photos, caches, preferences and app notifications, then returns to onboarding. It does not revoke operating-system permissions, delete copies you exported elsewhere or erase provider operational/security records. Manage exported files and device backups separately.

There is no online birthday account or server-side birthday book to delete. Daily usage records follow the cleanup described above; OpenAI and Cloudflare retention is separate. The local reset is not a request to erase already processed provider records.

Other people’s information

You can keep birthday details for family, friends and other people. Only enter, export and submit information you are entitled to use, and consider who can access your phone, backups or lock-screen reminders.

This policy website

Opening this policy visits the Vasser Studios website in your browser. The website is hosted on Cloudflare Pages and uses Google Analytics with regional consent controls, separate from the mobile app. You can change website analytics choices using Cookie preferences. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the app’s features or data practices change. The effective date will be shown on this page.
