Slope Meter: Inclinometer

Website copy updated 24 October 2026. App practices are described below.

About this policy

Vasser Studios develops Slope, a slope meter, inclinometer, surface level, magnetic compass and gradient calculator for Android and iOS. This policy explains how Slope handles information and how to contact us about privacy. The Android package and iOS bundle identifier is com.slopemeter.app.

Information handled by the app

Slope works offline and does not require an account. We do not collect or receive your measurements, calculator inputs or device sensor readings. The app does not include advertising, analytics, tracking or an automated crash-reporting service, and we do not sell your information.

Device sensors and permissions

Slope uses your device's accelerometer to calculate slope and surface level, and its magnetometer together with the accelerometer to calculate magnetic compass bearings. Sensor readings are processed on your device. They are not sent to Vasser Studios or an external service, and the app does not save a continuous log of raw sensor readings.

On iOS, the app declares its use of motion sensors. Available sensors and any permission controls depend on your device and operating system. The compass uses the magnetic field rather than GPS and does not determine your geographic location.

Slope does not request access to your location, camera, microphone, contacts, photos or health records. Its measurement and calculator features do not require internet access.

Saved readings and settings

If you choose Save reading, Slope stores the tool used, the measured angle or bearing, cross-slope value, date and time, and whether the reading came from demo mode. This information is stored locally on your device. The app keeps up to 100 readings; saving another reading when the limit is reached replaces the oldest one.

The app also stores your calibration offsets, preferred measurement unit, level tolerance and haptic-feedback preference on your device. These settings are used to provide and personalise the tools, not to identify or track you.

Values entered in the gradient calculator are processed in memory to display results. They are not uploaded or saved as a calculator history. Demo mode uses clearly labelled sample readings and does not collect additional information.

Retention, deletion and device backups

Saved readings remain on your device until you delete them in Saved readings, they are replaced at the 100-reading limit, or the app's local data is removed. You can remove calibration offsets using Settings > Calibration > Reset.

To remove all local readings and preferences, clear the app's storage where your operating system supports this, or remove the app and its associated data. On iOS, offloading an app can retain its data, so offloading alone is not the same as deleting its data.

Your operating system may back up or restore local app data according to your device and account settings. Slope does not operate its own cloud backup service or receive these backups. Manage device backups through your operating system or cloud-account settings. Apple and Google handle their services under their respective Apple Privacy Policy and Google Privacy Policy.

We cannot access or delete measurements stored only on your device. Removing local data does not necessarily remove copies in a device backup.

Third-party services

Slope uses Flutter and local device-sensor and preference-storage libraries to provide its features. The current app does not send measurements or preferences to a third-party server and does not include an advertising or analytics SDK. Apple, Google and your device manufacturer may independently handle store, backup or diagnostic information under their own settings and privacy policies.

Contacting us

If you email us, we receive your email address, your message and any attachments you choose to send. We use this information to answer your enquiry and provide support. Our email provider, Microsoft, processes correspondence to deliver and store email.

We do not sell support correspondence or use it for advertising. We retain it only for as long as needed to handle the enquiry and meet applicable legal obligations. We may disclose correspondence if required by law. You can contact us to request access, correction or deletion of information you have sent us; we may need to confirm your identity before acting on a request.

Children's privacy

Slope is a general-purpose utility. It does not require an account or ask users, including children, to provide personal information to use its tools.

Security

Measurements and preferences remain in your device's app storage, subject to the device-backup behaviour described above. Your device's access controls help protect local information. We take reasonable steps to protect support correspondence, but no method of storage or transmission provides an absolute security guarantee.
